Budget Newsletter

The Annual Budget Hearing will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. at the Jr.-Sr. High School Auditorium.


The Annual Meeting and Voting on the 2021-2022 Total Educational Budget, the Purchase of School Vehicles, the Transfer of Repair Reserve Monies, and the election of two (2) Board of Education Members will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, from 12:00 noon – 9:00 p.m. in the Jr.-Sr. High School Gymnasium.

The Board of Education adopted the recommended School Budget for the 2021-2022 school year on April 13, 2021.  Copies of the budget will be available in the District Office on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 (14 days before the vote).  Two (2) Board Member vacancies will be filled this year for terms beginning July 1, 2021 and ending June 30, 2026.  The five-year terms of James Sager and Michael Stefan will expire on June 30, 2021.

On the ballot:

PROPOSITION NO. 1 – Budget: RESOLVED, that the budget for the North Collins Central School District, Erie County, New York, for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2021 and ending June 30, 2022, in the amount of $16,266,194 as presented by the Board of Education, is hereby approved and adopted and the required funds therefor are hereby appropriated and the necessary real property taxes required shall be raised by a tax on the taxable property in the District to be levied and collected as required by law.

PROPOSITION NO. 2 – Purchase of School Vehicles: RESOLVED, that the Board of Education (the “Board”) of the North Collins Central School District, Erie County, New York (the “District”), is hereby authorized to purchase school buses and/or similar vehicles for use by the transportation and/or custodial department, per New York State Contract, at a cost of $131,000 to be paid for in full out of the District’s Bus and Vehicle Reserve Fund.

PROPOSITION NO. 3 – Transfer of Repair Reserve Monies to Two Separate Capital Reserve Funds: RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the North Collins Central School District, Erie County, New York (the “District”) be, and it hereby is, authorized to transfer, during the current fiscal year of the District, $1,530,000 from the District’s 2009 Repair Reserve Fund (leaving behind a balance of approximately $57,230 in the Repair Reserve) to the District’s 2017 Bus and Vehicle Capital Reserve Fund ($330,000) and to the District’s 2019 Capital Improvements Reserve Fund ($1,200,000), in order to make more favorable use of the dollars involved, by leveraging State building aid and transportation aid with respect to future anticipated expenditures from those two Reserve Funds.

Election of Two (2) Members of the Board of Education as follows:  Two five (5) year terms commencing July 1, 2021 and expiring on June 30, 2026.

In compliance with Sections §1608 and §1716 of the Education Law which states that the Statement of Expenditures must be completed at least 14 days prior to the Annual Meeting, Budget Vote and Election (May 18, 2021) you are hereby notified that said STATEMENT OF EXPENDITURES will be available for review in the District Office of the North Collins Central School District on May 4, 2021, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

  • Eighteen (18) years of age
  • A resident within the district for a period of thirty (30) days prior to the vote

Election will be conducted for two (2) seats: Full Five (5) Year Terms 7/01/21-6/30/26

Applications for absentee ballots will be available starting April 19, 2021, in the District Office of the Jr.-Sr. High School Building, 2045 School Street, North Collins, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on regular business days, Monday through Friday.

Military voters who are qualified voters of the school district may apply for a military absentee ballot.  Applications for military ballots may be obtained from the District Clerk's Office by calling 716-337-0101, ext. 1301, or email kmason@northcollinscsd.org, and the military voter may designate a preference to receive the application by mail, fax or email.  Completed applications for military ballots must be received by the District Clerk or her designee no later than April 22, 2021 (26 days before the vote).

A list of all persons to whom absentee ballots shall have been issued will be available in the Office of the Clerk of the District, where it shall be open for inspection by any qualified voter of the District, until the day set for voting.  Any individual desiring a copy of the list should contact Kathy Mason, District Clerk, at kmason@northcollinscsd.org or call 716-337-0101 ext. 1301 to make arrangements to view a copy.

All completed absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on the day of voting, May 18, 2021.


The Erie County Association of School Boards (ECASB) offered a free workshop for prospective School Board Members on Saturday, March 27, 2021, from 8:00 am – 10:30 am via a virtual Zoom program.    Please see the flyer attached at the bottom of this page for additional details.
