5/6/2020 UPDATE: Governor Cuomo has issued Executive Order 202.26, ordering school budget vote and board member elections to be held Tuesday, June 9, 2020.

Ballots were mailed to all registered voters in the district and should be received on or about May 26, 2020.  If you did not receive a ballot and you are a qualified voter in the district, please contact the District Clerk at 337-0101 ext. 1301 or kmason@northcollinscsd.org.  Completed ballots must be received by the District Clerk by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 for your vote to be counted.

ANNUAL MEETING, BUDGET VOTE AND ELECTION - June 9, 2020

The Annual Meeting and Voting on the 2020-2021 Total Educational Budget, the Purchase of School Vehicles, and the election of one (1) Board of Education Member will be held on June 9, 2020, by absentee ballot only.

PROPOSITION NO. 1 – Budget: The Board of Education will adopt a budget for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2020 and ending June 30, 2021 and present this budget to voters for approval.

PROPOSITION NO. 2 – Purchase of School Vehicles:  Purchase of school buses and/or similar vehicles for use by the transportation and/or custodial department, per New York State Contract, at a cost of $250,000 to be paid for in full out of the District’s Bus and Vehicle Reserve Fund.

Election of One (1) Member of the Board of Education as follows:

  • For a five (5) year term commencing July 1, 2020 and expiring on June 30, 2025.  The five-year term of Heather Puntillo will expire on June 30, 2020.

QUALIFIED VOTERS ELIGIBILITY

  • A Citizen of the United States

  • Eighteen (18) years of age

  • A resident within the district for a period of thirty (30) days prior to the vote

CANDIDATES FOR BOARD OF EDUCATION

An individual who desires to be placed on the ballot as a candidate for election to the Board of Education must complete a nominating petition to confirm that he or she meets all applicable eligibility requirements.  A nominating petition may be obtained on the District’s website or by contacting the District Clerk at kmason@northcollinscsd.org or 716-337-0101 ext. 1301.  Completed nominating petitions must be received in the District Clerk’s Office by 5:00 p.m. on May 11, 2020 and may be sent via U.S. mail to: Clerk of the District, North Collins Central School District, P.O. Box 740, North Collins, NY 14111; or email kmason@northcollinscsd.org.  

Campaign Expenditure Statements are due ten days before the election (June 1, 2020), and within 20 days after the election (June 29, 2020).

ABSENTEE BALLOTS

The District's budget vote and Board of Education member election will be held by absentee ballot ONLY.  All qualified voters of the District are eligible to vote by absentee ballot. The District will mail absentee ballots with postage-paid return envelopes to registered voters. Any qualified voter who is not registered to vote with the Erie County Board of Elections may request a ballot by contacting the District Clerk, Kathleen Mason, at (716) 337-0101, ext. 1301 or by email at kmason@northcollinscsd.org.  All completed ballots must be received by the Clerk of the District by 5 p.m. on June 9, 2020.

Military voters who are qualified voters of the school district may apply for a military ballot.  Applications for military ballots may be obtained from the District Clerk’s Office by calling 716-337-0101, ext. 1301, or email kmason@northcollinscsd.org, and the military voter may designate a preference to receive the application by mail, fax or email.  Completed applications for military ballots must be received by the District Clerk or her designee by no later than 5:00 p.m. on May 14, 2020. 

A list of all persons to whom absentee ballots shall have been issued will be available in the Office of the Clerk of the District, where it shall be open for inspection by any qualified voter of the District, until the day set for voting. As school buildings are not currently open to the general public, any individual desiring a copy of the list should contact Kathy Mason at kmason@northcollinscsd.org or call 716-337-0101 ext. 1301 to make arrangements to obtain a copy.
