The health and safety of our students and staff is our top priority. With that in mind, the purpose of this letter is to inform you that an individual who was present at North Collins High School on January 25, 2021 has tested positive for COVID-19.

The local Department of Health has been notified and is taking further steps. As noted above, we are working with the health department and are taking all recommended steps to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Steps we are implementing in cooperation with the local health department include:

• This individual will not return to our program until they have completed quarantine/isolation procedures for COVID-19 as directed by the local department of health.

We will provide further updates if additional steps need to be taken by our program. Please continue to monitor your child for symptoms and have them stay home if they are sick. In addition, please contact their healthcare provider if they develop symptoms or if you have any additional questions or concerns. More information on the symptoms of COVID-19 can be found at https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/home or on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website.

Dear North Collins Families:

We are pleased to report that we have successfully implemented and completed our NCCSD Yellow Zone Testing Program this week.  Today we conducted 30 tests at the NC Elementary School and we received zero (0) positive test results.  As per the NYS Micro Cluster Initiative, we have demonstrated that “in-person instruction is not a significant driver of local viral spread” and do NOT need to test any longer while we are in the Yellow Zone to remain in the HYBRID learning model.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the families for their support and the students and staff for their cooperation with this testing protocol.  I, again, cannot thank our Administrators, nurses and staff enough for their preparation and implementation of the testing protocols.

Please stay safe and I’ll see you along the way.

Sincerely,

Scott Taylor, Superintendent

January 7, 2021

Dear Parents, Legal Guardians and Staff:

This week, we welcomed students back into our school buildings for in-person HYBRID learning and we began our on-site COVID-19 testing.  Thank you very much to our teachers and staff for welcoming our students back.  It was evident throughout our buildings that students are very happy to be back in their classrooms.

We are happy to report that we have successfully implemented our NCCSD Yellow Zone Testing Program this week.  We are pleased to let you know that we conducted 50 tests at the NC Elementary School and 56 tests at the NC Jr.-Sr. High School and we received zero (0) positive test results.

The District was notified today that an individual in the Elementary School building (last present on January 7, 2021) has tested positive for COVID-19.  The District has been in contact with the Erie County Department of Health (“ECDOH”) regarding the situation, and the District is following all of the ECDOH’s directives and guidance to help prevent the potential spread of the virus.  The ECDOH has advised us that no further action is warranted.

In accordance with applicable privacy and confidentiality laws and regulations, the District cannot release any further details at this time. We ask that you please respect and honor the privacy of any individual in our school community who has tested positive.

As challenges in navigating the COVID-19 virus are ongoing, reopening schools and implementing our testing program was one of the greatest challenges to date. I cannot thank our Administrators, nurses and staff enough for their preparation and implementation of the testing protocols.  Our success in this was only possible through the strong school community partnership that we have here in North Collins.

We have one additional day of testing at the Elementary School next week and I will keep you updated.

Please stay safe and I’ll see you along the way.

Sincerely,

Scott Taylor, Superintendent
