Dear Parents, Legal Guardians and Staff:

Please be advised that one individual at the Elementary School building (last present on November 13th) has tested positive for COVID-19.  The District has been in contact with the Erie County Department of Health (“ECDOH”) regarding the situation, and the District is following all of the ECDOH’s directives and guidance to help prevent the potential spread of the virus.

The affected individual has been isolated and the ECDOH is identifying and contacting those individuals identified as close contacts by the ECDOH.  You will hear directly from the ECDOH if you or your child(ren) are determined to be at potential risk, and you will be advised at that time if any particular steps or precautions need to be taken.  The individual and any individuals identified by the health department as being close contacts will be expected to follow the DOH’s quarantine/isolation guidelines and will not return to school until they have completed the quarantine/isolation procedures for COVID-19 as directed by the Erie County Department of Health.  Rest assured, that on a nightly basis our schools and buses are cleaned and disinfected.

This letter is to inform you of the positive case.  It is important that we all continue to comply with established health and safety protocols like social distancing, face coverings, good hygiene practices and monitoring for symptoms, among other equally important preventative techniques.  If you or your child(ren) do experience any symptoms of COVID-19, please stay home, contact your physician and the school nurse.

In accordance with applicable privacy and confidentiality laws and regulations, the District cannot release any further details at this time. We ask that you please respect and honor the privacy of any individual in our school community who has tested positive. If you have any questions about this, please let us know.

Thank you.
