Budget Vote and Board of Education Election Information

ANNUAL BUDGET HEARING – Tuesday, May 14, 2024 in the North Collins Central School Jr.-Sr. High School Library Media Center at 7:00 p.m.

ANNUAL MEETING, BUDGET VOTE AND ELECTION – Tuesday, May 21, 2024 in the North Collins Jr.-Sr. High School Gymnasium, 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m.  The Board of Education will adopt the recommended School Budget for the 2024-2025 school year on or before April 26, 2024.  Copies of the budget will be available in the District Office by Tuesday, May 7, 2024 (14 days before vote).  Two (2) Board Member vacancies will be filled; one for a full five-year term beginning July 1, 2024 and ending June 30, 2029 (currently held by Mary Petkov), and one four-year partial term beginning May 22, 2024 and ending June 30, 2028 (previously held by Michelle DeCarlo).

QUALIFIED VOTERS ELIGIBILITY

  • A Citizen of the United States
  • Eighteen (18) years of age
  • A resident within the district for a period of thirty (30) days prior to the vote
  • A person not otherwise prohibited from voting under the provisions of § 5-106 of the Election Law

NOTICE

In compliance with Sections §1608 and §1716 of the Education Law which states that the Statement of Expenditures must be completed at least 14 days prior to the Annual Meeting, Budget Vote and Election (May 21, 2024), you are hereby notified that said STATEMENT OF EXPENDITURES will be available for review in the District Office of the North Collins Central School District on May 7, 2024, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

NOMINATING PETITIONS FOR BOARD OF EDUCATION

Nominating petitions and Board Candidate Expenditure Statements for the election will be available March 14, 2024 at the bottom of this page and in the District Office for anyone wishing to become a candidate for the School Board election.  Completed petitions must be filed with the District Clerk at 2045 School Street, North Collins, NY, by 5 p.m. on Monday, April 22, 2024.

Election will be conducted for two (2) seats: One Full Five (5) Year Term 7/01/24-6/30/29 and One Partial Four (4) Year Term 5/22/24-6/30/28. The candidate with the highest number of votes will receive the 5-Year Term. All Board seats are at large.

ABSENTEE AND EARLY MAIL VOTER BALLOTS

Applications for absentee and early mail voter ballots will be available starting April 19, 2024, and may be submitted to the District Clerk no earlier than 30 days before the day of the vote, in the District Office of the Jr.-Sr. High School Building, 2045 School Street, North Collins, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on regular business days, Monday through Friday.

Military voters who are qualified voters of the school district may apply for a military absentee ballot.  Applications for military ballots may be obtained from the District Clerk's Office by calling 716-337-0101, ext. 1301, or email [email protected], and the military voter may designate a preference to receive the application by mail, fax or email.  Completed applications for military ballots must be received by the District Clerk or her designee no later than April 25, 2024 (26 days before the vote).

A list of all persons to whom absentee and early mail voter ballots shall have been issued will be available in the Office of the Clerk of the District, where it shall be open for inspection by any qualified voter of the District, for 5 days preceding the day set for voting.  Any individual desiring to view the list should contact Kathy Mason, District Clerk, at [email protected] or call 716-337-0101 ext. 1301.

All completed absentee and early mail voter ballots must be received by the District Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on the day of voting, May 21, 2024.
